2019 DNCA Calendar

Below are DNCA sponsored eventsfor the coming months. Very soon you can also download and print out a one-page calendar.  Please check back for this.

January and February: Ice Skating Parties in the Nature Center, as conditions permit. To be on our email event notification list, send an email request to [email protected] or watch for skating party announcements on the town electronic bulletin board at the corner of Hardenburgh & Piermont.

February 9: Birdhouse and Bird Feeder Building Day, in the Demarest Train Station. From 10am until 1pm. Kits are $15 for one and $10 for each additional kit, per family. Participating children need to be accompanied by an adult. And remember to bring vour hammer and your camera!  Rain or shine.

March 30: Nature Walk & Volunteer Day. At 9:30 A Naturalist will lead our walk through the trails, as we spot signs of Spring in the flora and fauna. Followed by Volunteer Day at 10:30. Wear long pants and bring your gardening gloves. We’ll be cleaning up litter and doing light trail maintenance. Meet at the Wakelee Field Playground parking lot for either or both event(s). Rain date, only if extreme weather on April 13th.

April 13: Easter Egg Hunt with the Easter Bunny!  2 pm in the Imaginative Playground in Wakelee Field. Bring your toddlers through 4th graders for some yummy fun and great photo ops with the Easter Bunny. Bring your camera! Rain date Sunday, April 14th.

April 27: Northern Valley Earth Fair.  From 11 – 4. Learn how to become a DNC member and enjoy nature right here in the Northern Valley!   Tenafly Middle School, 10 Sunset Lane, Tenafly.

September 21: The John Goodwin Nature Photo Contest Deadline.  Deposit entries at the Demarest Free Public Library in our basket OR The Art School at Old Church.  All photos must be taken in the nature center.  See our website for contest details.

October 12: The Craft Show At Oktoberfest – UPDATE: We’re bringing back the canoe rides!  Plus very exciting to report that our food options will now include vegan and vegetarian.

November 9: The Annual DNCA Dog Walk through the Demarest Nature Center. All area dogs and their “leashed” masters are welcome for an easy hike leaving from The Demarest Nature Center parking lot next to the Imaginative Playground in Wakelee Field at 10am (return before 11:30am).  Rain or shine. No unleashed dogs please.
