Directions To Demarest
Demarest is located in Bergen County, NJ, in the northeast corner of the state. Hardenburg Ave is 6.3 miles north of NJ Rt. 4 on Bergen County Rt. 501(Grand Ave in Englewood, County Road in Demarest). From the County Rd. and Hardenburg Ave. interesection, travel West over the stone bridge and follow directions below.

Directions to the Nature Center
There are five entrances to the Demarest Nature Center:
- Columbus Road Entrances (2)
The main entrance, Columbus Road North, is located on the east side of Columbus Road approximately 3/10thsof a mile north of Hardenburgh Ave.
The Columbus Road South Entrance is located on the east side of Columbus Road approximately 2/10thsof a mile North of Hardenburgh Ave. Columbus Road runs N. from Hardenbrugh Ave. 1/2 mile West of County Road(rt 501) and 1/4 mile East of Knickerbocker Rd(rte 505).
- Madison Ave. Entrance
The Madison Ave entrance to the center is on the north side of Madison Ave. next to Dogwood Lane and across from the north end of Stelfox St. The Demarest Public Library is bordered by Inslay St. on the east and Stelfox St. to the west.
- Demarest Playground Entrance
Two foot paths enter the Demarest Nature Center immediately west of the Demarest Playground and Wakelee Athletic Field. One path crosses the Tenakill Brook on a foot bridge, the other proceeds north along the east side of the Tenakill. The Demarest Playground can be reached from Hardenburgh Ave. and the town center by traveling North on the road parallel to, and immediately west of, the railroad tracks. Proceed over the one lane bridge and bear left passing Wakelee Field and the Wakelee Field house on the right. When the paved road turns right, bear left past the playground. Trails begin at the West end of the parking lot.
- Swim Club Parking Lot Entrance
Two paths enter the woods from the north end of the swim club parking lot. Directions are the same as for the playground entrances with the following change: when the paved road bears to the right, continue on the road past the tennis courts and the entrance to the Demarest Swim Club, to the north end of the Swim Club parking lot.
Trails enter the woods, one from just west of the handball court and the other from slightly north-east of the handball court. Back to the top

Trial of the Trails!
5k and Fun Run, Rain or Shine
Two races on the trails of the beautiful Demarest Nature Center. The Trail Fun Run (1-mile) is open to ages 6 and up, including adults. The 5K Trail Run (3.1-mile), which includes all but one trail on the DNC's 55 acres, is for ages 9 and up, including adults. Wakelee Field Playground, registration is at 8:00 am, rain or shine. Registration forms will be sent home the second week of September from the schools, or can be downloaded here: Trail Run Registration (PDF).
